Five Bangladeshi nationals have been taken into custody in connection with the alleged kidnapping and assault of a fellow countryman at a construction site in Hulhumalé.
The suspects are MD Hossain, aged 30, MD Mehedi Hassan, aged 34, MD Shah Alam, aged 39, Safif Hassan, aged 38, and Rasl, aged 20. They were presented before the court for a remand hearing, where all five were ordered to be held in custody for 15 days.
According to the Maldives Police Service, the incident was reported last Wednesday. While authorities were conducting search operations to locate the victim, he was later found in Villimalé.
Following his rescue, the victim was taken to the hospital for medical examination and treatment. He has since been discharged.
